Trip to HongKong Disneyland

After winning the talent show in Bangalore’s Big Bazar, my daughter Riya Jain was among the lucky three to fly to her dream destination, HongKong Disneyland. We boarded the Cathy Pacific flight from Bangalore (2.00 a.m.) and landed at HongKong airport around 10.00 a.m. (local time) There was heavy rush at airport (due to Chinese new year) so we had to spent almost one hour for visa (free visa on arrival). It took almost 35 minutes to reach hotel “Disneyland Hollywood Hotel” which is located within the Disneyland resort. There we met other two winners Ms. Saloni (d/o Mr. Sandeep Badhe) from Pune and daugther of Mr. Jayaprakash from Hyderabad.

After having some snacks in hotel, all of us visited Budha Temple and The Peak. We were lucky to find good vegetarian dinner(along with Jain food) in an Indian restaurant in HK city. After dinner we spent sometime in the local market and came back to hotel in our rooms. Rooms of the hotel were very clean and spacious. All over the hotel there were many Disney characters and my daughter was so excited to see them. She met the cute Pooh and collected many Disney cartoon characters stickers from hotel staff. For the first time I saw many bonsai trees loaded with oranges in the hotel.

Next morning, we got up early and had good vegetarian breakfast in the hotel. We boarded a bus from hotel and reached Disneyland in 10 minutes. The main entrance of Disneyland was very beautiful with Mickey Mouse standing on top of water flowing from whale fish and a dancing mini mouse. Further ahead was a big fountain with a statue of Mickey. I clicked many different and funny poses of my daughter with her favorite characters. We also saw very beautiful and costly balloon with each balloon costing HK $100. There was a special parade because of Chinese New Year where for the first time in life I got an opportunity to see many Disney characters in real. All of them came one by one and they were dancing and playing drums. After the parade, we went inside to enjoy Disneyland rides.

Disneyland is divided into three main parks Fantasyland, Tomorrow Land, and Adventure Land.

In Fantasyland, we took pictures with many Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Mini Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Snow White, Cinderella, etc. We enjoyed “Mickey’s Philhar Magic” show which was a 3-D magical adventure and “The Golden Mickey’s” show which was a musical celebration of Disney’s film and characters. We hade a good time riding on prancing horses in Cinderella’s Carousel and ride in “The Flying Elephnat”. Journey to “It’s a small world” of Pooh was very exciting and lovely.

In “Adventure Land” we saw “Tarzan House” which was artificial but looked very real. We also completed “Jungle River Cruise” where I got frightened. We also enjoyed the show “Festival of Lion King”.

The roller costal ride of Space Mountain and Orbitron in Tomorrow Land was really thrilling. We even got a chance to drive UFO is “UFO Zone”.

There was a spectacular fire show in the evening in Cinderella’s Carousel. My daughter also attended a class where she learnt how to draw Mickey Mouse in simple steps. This was a memorable experince for her.

Inside Disneyland, it is not easy to get any vegetarian food but we enjoyed Pepsi along with finger chips. After dinner in HK city, we came to hotel. We spend two complete days in Disneyland and saw almost everything. It was truely the best destination that I could have wished for my daughter.

  • Language: English is easily understood by all.
  • Main Attractions: Disneyland, Lantau, Buddha Statue, The Peak, and Noah’s ark.
  • Food: Indian vegetarian And Jain food is available in HK city but not in Disneyland. You can carry snacks with you.
  • Tips: 2 nights and 3 days trip is good enough to enjoy most of the HongKong attractions. Hong Kong is a costly place and not a shopper’s paradise. There are good Indian restaurants in city which is almost 45-60 minutes drive from Disneyland.
